Tournament rules Funino

FuNiño has been gaining more and more acceptance in the G and F youth sector for a few years now. The BALLFREUNDE want to support this development, which should lead to more ball actions for all children and thus to more fun. Therefore, we offer FuNiño tournaments for the age groups U8-U10 parallel to the usual 6+1 tournament mode within the framework of the Mini World Cup. In contrast to the well-known FuNiño Festivals, we will not play in the Kaiserturnier mode, we will also play a Mini-WM with at least six games of 20 minutes each (2x 10 minutes + 5 minutes break).

Below are the rules that apply across the board for U8, U9 and U10. Below are the specifics for the different age groups.

General FuNiño rules

  • Goals: 4 mini-goals (2m x 1,2m), 12-14m apart
  • Penalty area: 6m (goals may only be scored in this area)
  • Duration: 2 x 10 minutes per game with 5 min half-time break
  • The first day will be played in drawn groups, the second day will be re-divided according to the results of the previous day.
  • Goals can only be scored in the 6m penalty area. Own goals always count.
  • After a side pass, the ball is passed or dribbled in. A goal may be scored directly if the ball has been dribbled in beforehand with at least 3 ball contacts.
  • Corners are taken by the corner guard and can also lead directly to a goal. The ball can be dribbled in (at least 3 contacts) or shot.
  • Free kicks are taken indirectly or as a dribble. After a dribble (at least 3 contacts), a direct shot on goal is also allowed.
  • In case of a violation of the rules in the own penalty area, a penalty attack (penalty) takes place. The attacker starts between the halfway line and the penalty line against the goalkeeper in the penalty area. The other players are behind him at the penalty line and are allowed to take part in the game after the first touch of the ball.
  • Rotation after every goal scored is compulsory.
  • For free kicks or ball out, always keep a distance of 3m.
  • Free kicks are all indirect or can be dribbled in. A goal can also be scored after at least 3 contacts with the ball.
  • Penalty attack/penalty is given for handball inside the penalty area, fouls inside the penalty area, straddling the man inside the penalty area.
  • Coach and field supervisor stand together at the centre line.
  • The children play WITHOUT being instructed by coaches (DO NOT GIVE PLAYING INSTRUCTIONS). The coaches/supervisors only help with rule ambiguities, changeovers and try to keep the game balanced by making any rule adjustments. Decisions are left to the children.
  • Opening: High ball, after all teams have taken their starting positions.
  • BALLFREUNDE provides a referee who should only intervene in case of ambiguity. The kids should decide for themselves and among themselves as much as possible.
  • If the goal difference is 3 or more, the losing team may send an additional player onto the field until the goal difference is less than 3 again.
  • If the shortage is not enough, then further rule changes can ensure a balanced game (e.g.: goals only with a weak foot, everyone must have touched the ball, etc.). In particular, the leading team should retreat to the halfway line at the kick-off.
  • Parents must stay in the fan zone (15m distance to the fields) and leave the playing and decision-making to the children. Interfering from the fan zone is forbidden!
